Week 1 vs. New York Jets

The new look Buffalo Bills took the field against former QB Tyrod Taylor and the division rival New York Jets.  The Bills came firing out on all cylinders in this one as QB Teddy Bridgewater completed 21 of 25 for 292 yards and 4 TDS!  He also threw 1 INT, which happened on the second drive of the game.  Bridgewater looked extremely comfortable in the pocket.  Todd Gurley II took advantage of his offensive line and he wracked up 104 yards and a TD on 19 carries.  He also added 15 yards and a TD, totaling 2 for the RB.  TE Trey Burton also scored 2 TDs as he rallied in 9 balls for 63 yards.  He was clearly a security blanket for Bridgewater, especially in the redzone where both TDs occurred.  WR Jeremy Maclin dominated as he caught 7 balls for 135 yards and a TD.  He had his way with Jets defenders all game.  The offense clicked like clockwork.

The defense was just as good!  Giving up only 10 points and 127 yards!  Veterans Mario Williams and Trent Cole combined for 3 sacks, and MLB Nick Kwiatkowski led the team with 5 tackles.

The Bills defeated the Jets by the score of 40-10 and travel next week to take on the 0-0-1 Panthers led by QB Cam Newton!

Week 2 @ Carolina Panthers

Week 2 provided the Bills with a much tougher matchup against the Carolina Panthers, especially when Todd Gurley exited the game in the 2nd quarter with a shoulder strain.  But QB Teddy Bridgewater once again stepped up to the plate as he finished the game 18 of 22 for 173 yards and a TD.  He also added 59 yards on 7 carries, one of those carries went for 21 yards on a 3rd and long late in the 3rd.  Bridgewater hit TE Trey Burton the very next play for a 47 yard TD!  Burton finished the game with 7 catches, 105 yards, and 1 TD.  Rookie RB De’Angelo Henderson scored a late 15 yard TD to give the Bills a 14-9 lead in the 4th.  

Despite Cam Newton’s scrambling abilities, he was unable to lead his team to a victory as the Bills veterans on D stepped up once again.  Mario Williams, Trent Cole, and Jonathan Babineaux all recorded a sack, as did Mario Edwards Jr.  FS Kurt Coleman led the team with 4 tackles.  

The Bills defeated the Panthers by a score of 14-9 and head home to face the 0-1-1 Denver Broncos.
