How did we get here ... ?


December 17, 2018 --
Vince McMahon appears on Monday Night Raw and expresses disappointment in WWE being at an all-time low. He demands change from his offspring Shane and Stephanie. Stephanie announces she won't be hiring a new General Manager and will take full responsibility for her show.

December 18, 2018 --
Following his sister's bold move, Shane McMahon relieves Paige of her General Manager duties of SmackDown and will be the sole man in charge of SmackDown.



What stayed the same?

Everything you have experienced to this point has remained the same, but the question is that which never happened:

* None of the NXT guys wrestled on the main show, aside from the Royal Rumble surprise entrants
* Vince McMahon and Triple H were not on-screen authoritative figures, only a sibling rivalry between Shane and Stephanie
* Charlotte Flair was never added to the Raw Women's Championship Match, yet Becky Lynch rebelled against Stephanie McMahon and the authority

Cruiserweight Championship Match
Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Noam Dar
Noam Dar won a tournament, last defeating Cedric Alexander, to earn an opportunity against Buddy Murphy.

United States Championship Ladder Match
AJ Styles vs. Andrade vs. Eric Young vs. Jeff Hardy vs. R-Truth (c) vs. Samoa Joe
R-Truth wasn't pleased with his fear of heights, but when many challengers wanted an opportunity at the title, Shane McMahon set up a Ladder Match in which they would qualify for the opportunity. Styles defeated Shinsuke Nakamura, Andrade defeated Rey Mysterio, Young defeated Kofi Kingston, Hardy defeated Shelton Benjamin, and Joe defeated Rusev.

Rey Mysterio vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
After failing to qualify for the ladder match, Nakamura attacked Mysterio the following week with no cause, prompting this match.

Intercontinental Championship Match
Baron Corbin vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Finn Balor (c)
Finn Balor would be battling Lashley when Baron Corbin got involved, but the return of Dolph Ziggler would even the odds, before Ziggler would superkick Balor after a tag team victory on Raw, and hoisting the title above his head, signifying he wants to become a 7-time Intercontinental Champion.

WWE Women's Tag Team Championships Match
Bayley & Sasha Banks (c) vs. The Bella Twins
Bayley and Sasha Banks defeated the Riott Squad's Morgan and Logan at Fastlane and came face-to-face with the returning Brie and Nikki Bella the following night on Raw, marking they wanted the titles. After a couple big wins for the Bella Twins, they were granted the opportunity at WrestleMania.

Dean Ambrose vs. Kurt Angle
Ambrose would be disrespecting his opponents after the match, and when he was confronted by Kurt Angle, he had a brutal assault, which included choking the Olympic Gold Medalist with his pants belt. This prompted Angle to retaliate, and this feud has set up a historic match at WrestleMania.

SmackDown Tag Team Championships Match
The Bar vs. The Miz & Shane McMahon vs. The New Day vs. The Usos (c)
After Shane and Miz lost at Elimination Chamber, The Bar immediately put their names in the hat for the titles. And after Kofi Kingston failed to capture the WWE Championship at Fastlane, The New Day did as well. In this time, The Miz was convincing Shane to give it one more shot to regain their titles. After the triple threat match had already been made, Shane agreed he would put themselves in the match. After the other three teams refuted, Shane backed off and said they would fight for it, and the team dubbed McMiz beat The Usos to earn a rightful spot.

Mustafa Ali vs. Randy Orton
After Orton's injury to Mustafa Ali cost him a shot in the Elimination Chamber, Mustafa Ali returned with vengeance on his mind, and Orton vows to put Mustafa Ali down once and for all at WrestleMania.

No Disqualification Match
Braun Strowman vs. Drew McIntyre
Strowman and McIntyre have the most momentum of all the superstars and butted heads to show dominance. Over the weeks, both have tried getting the upperhand on each other, and McIntyre introduced weapons to the equation, making this is a No DQ Match.

SmackDown Women's Championship Match
Asuka (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
In a rematch from last year, Charlotte Flair won a battle royal to earn the right to face Asuka at WrestleMania.

WWE Championship Match
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kevin Owens
After Bryan retained the belt at Fastlane against Kofi Kingston, Kevin Owens made a big return to the delight of the fans. Owens has taken a "typical, every day guy" approach and remembers the old Daniel Bryan, in whom the new Daniel Bryan insists is dead. Owens not only vows to beat the old Daniel Bryan back to the surface, but to become WWE Champion while doing so.

Universal Championship Match
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins
After winning the Royal Rumble, Seth Rollins chose to wrestle Brock Lesnar, who will have his advocate Paul Heyman at his side. The Raw prior, Lesnar hit four F-5s on Rollins in a confrontation, followed by a fifth through the announce table. Rollins enters WrestleMania with a rib injury, in which Lesnar will sure to target in New York.

Raw Women's Championship Match
Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey (c)
Lynch opted to join Raw after winning the Royal Rumble, challenging Ronda Rousey. Once her contract was moved over, she began to rebel against Stephanie McMahon's authority and rub the Raw Commissioner the wrong way. This had McMahon begin to put obstacles in Lynch's way, all of which The Man overcame. At the final Raw, Stephanie was then confronted by Ronda Rousey in the contract signing and Rousey stuck up for her challenger, only to warn Becky of what's coming this Sunday. Rousey promised an aggressive fight with a clear finish.

Headlines:

Following an open challenge from the Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival, the Brothers of Destruction returned for their first ever pairing at WrestleMania together. Kane and The Undertaker teamed up for Undertaker to hit a Tombstone Piledriver on Dawson to win the Raw Tag Team Championships.

Seven championships changed hands at WrestleMania.

Biggest spot was an RKO as Mustafa Ali's springboard attempt to the outside was countered to an RKO on the floor. Orton would lift Ali up and roll him into the ring to cover him.

Dolph Ziggler hit Corbin with a Zig-Zag to win his seventh Intercontinental Championship.

After Shane McMahon was pinned in the SmackDown Tag Team Championships match, The Miz consoled the SmackDown Commissioner before laying him out with a Skull Crushing Finale.
