This Week in WWE
January 9, 2006 ~ Raw
After Edge wins the WWE Championship the night prior, he is confronted by ex-champion John Cena who calls Edge a coward for cashing in the way he did. Cena challenges Edge to a rematch next week on Raw. Later in the night, Edge celebrates with Lita and as friends of Edge comes out, he sends each one packing before it turns into a make-out session with Lita before Cena runs in and hits the FU on Edge to send a message into next week's Raw.
Friends Carlito and Chris Masters didn't see eye-to-eye and competed in singles action with Carlito outsmarting Chris Masters and getting a cheap win.
Kurt Angle wasn't happy about Shawn Michaels eliminating him first in the Chamber, leading to a singles match and WrestleMania 21 rematch, which ends with Michaels hitting a Sweet Chin Music on Angle and winning once more.
Backstage, Ashley Massaro confronted Women's Champion Trish Stratus after winning the Bra and Panties Gauntlet last night and beating Candice Michelle again tonight. Ashley challenges Stratus for the title next week, but the champion declined.
Gregory Helms continued his misfortunes, losing to Rob Van Dam.
January 13, 2006 ~ SmackDown
Batista opens the show and vacates the World Heavyweight Title and Teddy Long announces a battle royal will conclude the evening's show to crown a new champion.
In the opening contest, to crown a new United States Champion, Booker T finishes Benoit off in their Best-of-7 Series to win the United States Title.
Bobby Lashley secures a big win over JBL, but both are in the battle royal later in the night.
MNM tops Animal and Heidenreich in tag team action.
Prior to the main event, Teddy Long announces a contract expired this week and he has signed TRIPLE H to a new deal to SmackDown and he's entered the Battle Royal. Simon Dean was notably eliminated by The Undertaker but took matters into his own hands, helping MNM eliminate Undertaker and the Deadman chased Dean to the backstage area. Triple H looked to become World Heavyweight Champion once again, but Rey Mysterio takes Triple H over with a headscissors to win the biggest match of his career. Rey Mysterio is World Heavyweight Champion! Triple H is livid as Mysterio celebrates going off the air, spoling Triple H's SmackDown debut.
