April 11 2017 SmackDown began with Rich Brennan and JBL in the press-box booth as they run down tonight's show that includes Dolph Ziggler versus Braun Strowman, the in-ring debut of Alexa Bliss, and a main event tag team match between Seth Rollins and Randy Orton teaming against Apollo Crews and Cody Rhodes. However, Paul Heyman is beginning tonight's show and he introduces his new client, Baron Corbin! After they show a replay of Corbin's appearance last week while he makes his way to the ring, Heyman begins to build Baron Corbin up as the future of not only SmackDown, but the WWE. He nicknames Corbin "The Cardinal Sinner" and says he happens to be the next Intercontinental Champion. Heyman calls Nakamura out to defend his Intercontinental Championship right now, but instead of the champion, out comes the General Manager. Edge says Nakamura technically defended his title last week, so he's good for the next 30 days. Edge says since Corbin is ready for competition, he can wrestle his first match against... and out comes Ryback! Heyman knows Ryback well, so this is an unique first match for Baron Corbin.
Baron Corbin w/Paul Heyman def. Ryback Corbin was reeled early by Ryback, but settled in and earned a hard-nosed victory with an End of Days.
Backstage, WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins approaches Randy Orton in the locker room about coexisting tonight. Orton made it clear he isn't a fan of Rollins and he'll look out for himself tonight. Orton said if he had things his way, he'd be winning the WWE Universal Championship next week, before he opts to sit down and ignore Seth Rollins, who eventually walks out.
Braun Strowman walks to the ring with his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy being carried behind him by Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, ahead of Strowman's match up next.
Braun Strowman w/Erick Rowan and Luke Harper def. Dolph Ziggler Erick Rowan distracted the official enough for Harper to clock Ziggler with the ring bell, in order to slide him in and although Strowman wasn't approving of the help, he pinned an unconscious Ziggler.
While Strowman didn't appear to be on board with the executed plan, but Harper and Rowan were ecstatic about things.
Renee Young is backstage with American Alpha and asking how their debut felt last week, they were so pumped and this was when Curt Hawkins walked up and laughed at Chad Gable and Jason Jordan for picking SmackDown, because there is no tag team championships to win. Gable and Jordan said they don't need championships to prove they're better than Hawkins and who, Ryder? Hawkins challenges American Alpha to a match next week and he'll find a suitable partner to win. They accept, and we've got a match for next week!
Alexa Bliss def. Naomi It was Twisted Bliss that delivered Alexa her debut victory.
As Alexa Bliss mouthed off afterward, the theme of Sasha Banks hit and Sasha ran down and got to Alexa Bliss. It was then Nia Jax that attacked Sasha Banks and Nia Jax hit a Samoan Drop on Banks. Alexa then took insult to injury to pick Sasha up and hit a snap DDT as Bliss and Jax continue to bond over such.
Renee Young grabs an interview with Apollo Crews about his debut last week, and Crews said it was his pleasure to wrestle the WWE Universal Champion in his first match and while he came up short, he feels he learned a lot to compete on the main roster. Then comes into the frame Cody Rhodes as Renee mentions the tag team main event when they team up. Renee's question is about next week's title match versus Seth Rollins, but Cody says he's focused on making his father proud one match at a time, and tonight is that opportunity. Cody says both Orton and Rollins have been difficult recently and the two will regret that. Rhodes applauds Crews personally for his efforts last week and says he wouldn't want to go in battle with anyone else on the SmackDown roster.
The Miz def. Tye Dillinger In a WrestleMania rematch, The Miz forced Dillinger to tap in a match that perhaps topped their Mania showdown, to a Figure-Four Leg Lock.
Backstage, Randy Orton is in the locker room when Seth Rollins approaches Randy Orton once more. Orton begins to go off about Seth being annoying until Orton freezes... The camera zooms out to show Ric Flair, who entered the room behind Rollins. Ric Flair says he knows the potential of Randy Orton ever since Evolution, and he's lived up to that potential by being a multi-time world champion. He points to Seth Rollins and recalls the time he and Triple H were sitting around talking about the next Randy Orton, and Seth is in the process of filling Orton's shoes. But the most important thing is they coexist tonight against Apollo Crews and the overrated Cody Rhodes. Flair offers his services in their corner and Rollins jumps at the invitation, and after a pause, Orton nods too.
Sheamus def. Zack Ryder A Brogue Kick placed Ryder down quickly.
Paul Heyman is in Edge's ear requesting Shinsuke Nakamura defend his title next week against Baron Corbin. Edge said since Corbin is offering his services to make SmackDown next week better, he can wrestle again. Heyman looks pleased when we go to the press box where Brennan and JBL are gearing up for main event action. They do recall that in addition to Baron Corbin potentially getting an Intercontinental Championship match next week, we'll have American Alpha versus Curt Hawkins and a mysterty partner, along with Seth Rollins defending the WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes in a WrestleMania rematch. We then see the entrance for Seth Rollins and Randy Orton who approach the ring with Ric Flair between them as they join forces tonight.
Apollo Crews and Cody Rhodes def. Randy Orton and Seth Rollins w/Ric Flair It was a Cross-Rhodes on Rollins and Orton tried breaking it up, but Crews tackled Orton through the ropes and to the floor.
Cody Rhodes celebrated with Ric Flair brewing on the outside after Cody picked up a huge pinfall over the WWE Universal Champion seven days before his title opportunity. Cody's celebration and declaration to become the next champion is how tonight's episode ends.

The Cardinal Sinner? That fits Baron Corbin perfectly! Love it. Can’t wait for SmackDown next week! Universal title match!!! Curious to see how it plays out since Cody was screwed by Ric Flair at WrestleMania.

The Cardinal Sinner? That fits Baron Corbin perfectly! Love it. Can’t wait for SmackDown next week! Universal title match!!! Curious to see how it plays out since Cody was screwed by Ric Flair at WrestleMania. I went back and forth on a couple different options for Corbin. It meant a great deal to hear the actual choice implemented was a good one.

April 12 2017 Tonight's NXT episode began with Michael Bennett addressing the NXT fans at Full Sail and made it clear he wishes to wrestle Adam Cole for the NXT Championship. Adam Cole came to respond and reminded Bennett of what he did to him at NXT Takeover San Antonio, nearly breaking his neck and ending his career. Cole asked if he really wanted to put his family through that flash before their eyes of what life would've been like if he couldn't walk again. During a pause, Dan Matha's music hit and Matha towered over Cole and Bennett with claims he beat Adam Cole last week and left him laying in the ring. Adam Cole pointed out he never pinned him when William Regal steps out. Regal makes the main event for tonight, Michael Bennett versus Dan Matha to name a #1 contender for Adam Cole's championship.
Bubba Stone def. Fandango Stone's Sitout Powerbomb gave him the victory over Fandango.
Brooklyn Taurus is interviewed by Sophia about her debut last week, aligned with Rubi Riot, and was asked about the staredown between her and Riot after their match. Brooklyn says they both are new to the NXT and want to win a championship while they are there, so it's healthy competition. Rubi Riot enters the frame and embraces that healthy competition so asks if Brooklyn is down for 1-on-1 action down the road and she proposes in two weeks time, which Riot is okay with. We then go to the ring for women's action.
Tessa Blanchard def. Billie Kay w/Peyton Royce Royce was ejected from ringside early on and Blanchard hit a Slingshot German Suplex to win this one.
Vic Joseph introduces footage from last week after Brilee Fox's debut, Jenna was with Brilee Fox backstage and trying to rebuild his confidence after losing. Jenna promised Brilee to find him an opponent so he can get a win under his belt, but Fox insisted on having another opportunity at Liam Payne. Jenna shook her head and said she'll see what she can do, which Joseph announced at the end Liam Payne will wrestle Brilee Fox next week.
Strange Bedfellows def. Noam Dar and Shane Hollister Abyss nailed Hollister with a Black Hole Slam in the win.
Vic Joseph, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton discuss next week's matches between Liam Payne and Brilee Fox, as well as the NXT Tag Team Champions Depths of Despair in action. We get set for the main event that gets a new #1 contender for Adam Cole's NXT Championship, who joins the trio at commentary.
Dan Matha vs. Michael Bennett ends in a no contest After Matha and Bennett destroy each other, Cole decides to leave the commentary table, taking the liberty to smash each with a steel chair in the back.
As Adam Cole stood over both Matha and Bennett after taking them out, he shouted that neither are worthy to tie the laces of Adam Cole "Bay Bay" as this episode of NXT ends in the most unexpected way... without a #1 contender.

April 17 2017 Alberto Del Rio and Rusev head out together as they've bonded well with each other after WrestleMania. Rusev claims he's going to break Daniel Bryan's will along with his back and that comment precedes Rusev challenging Carlito to a match at Extreme Rules. Out comes Daniel Bryan along with Carlito, and Bryan asks Rusev why they can't make things a tag team match, and Carlito claims Del Rio is just a timid perro. Del Rio's upset with this and asks if they want a tag team match at Extreme Rules, they are going to get it, but be careful what you ask for.
Rusev w/Alberto Del Rio def. Daniel Bryan w/Carlito Carlito tried to coach Daniel Bryan out of The Accolade but was shoved in the steps by Del Rio, right before Bryan was forced to give up.
United States Champion Kevin Owens has an interview with Tom Phillips and uses this time to complain of Trish Stratus, a fellow Canadian, putting him against unbelievable odds against Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules. Owens quickly shuts up when Samoa Joe stops by. Joe said those two will be the least of his worries. Samoa Joe said he got done talking to Stratus and told Owens if he loses to him tonight, it'll be the 4-Way they had at WrestleMania. Now Owens is livid and storms off.
Jimmy Uso w/Jey Uso def. Jeff Hardy w/Matt Hardy Jimmy snuck away with a small package on Jeff Hardy after he got his knees up on the Swanton Bomb attempt.
Immediately after the match, Jey Uso pulled Jeff Hardy out and threw him into the barricade. Matt Hardy then began to attack Jey, but Jimmy got out and it was 2-1 odds. Jimmy and Jey Uso threw Matt Hardy over the barricade into the crowd and then Jey began to set up a Table while Jimmy continued to beat down Jeff. As Matt was climbing back over the barricade, Jimmy and Jey both pounced on him before they picked Matt up and body slammed Matt Hardy through the table set up. Jimmy then motioned for Jey Uso to go under the ring, and as Jimmy threw Jeff Hardy back into the ring, Jey Uso had grabbed a ladder from the outside and slid it in, followed by two steel chairs. They proceeded to put Jeff Hardy's leg inside the ladder and then both proceeded to smash Jeff's leg in the ladder with the chairs repeatedly. They eventually stopped and medical attention was able to get to Jeff Hardy as the WWE Universe was shocked by The Usos and their attitude change here tonight, six days before their title shot at Extreme Rules.
After a commercial break, The Usos were caught by Tom Phillips, as they denied any hard feelings towards The Hardy Boyz. Jimmy and Jey made it clear it wasn't personal, but it was business. They declared their love for the tag team titles and want to begin their 5th reign as champions this Sunday.
Bayley and Kelly Kelly def. Charlotte and Tamina Snuka In tag team action, Bayley hit a Bayley-to-Belly on Tamina and won the match headed into her Street Fight against Charlotte this Sunday.
Following a commercial break, Nikki Bella comes to the ring to speak and she addresses the fact she hasn't been around since WrestleMania and everyone's been asking if she and John Cena are an item once more. Nikki was about to address it until Bobby Lashley's music hit and Lashley came down with the cocky smirk he's had on his face for the past couple months. Lashley told Nikki Bella there is no question if she and Cena are an item, because it's an obvious no. Lashley explained that once you go black, you never go back. As this made the fans gasp, Lashley went a step further and said once somebody goes Lashley, the women pray there's a baby in the oven named Ashley. This was the straw that sent John Cena out there and Cena comes to the ring and by that time, Lashley had already fled through the crowd. John Cena and Nikki Bella lock eyes and the crowd are anticipating what's going to happen next, but Nikki Bella just walks by John Cena and exits the ring, leaving Cena confused.
Cesaro is backstage and Kassius Ohno walks up to him and Ohno says he's gotten them their first tag team match together in the WWE this Sunday, against The Vaudevillians. Cesaro nods and asks if they can talk about this later, because he has a match up against Taylor W. Rotunda in seconds, but Ohno insists going with him. Cesaro nods once more and says it'd be a good idea with Joe Hennig there.
Cesaro w/Kassius Ohno def. Taylor W. Rotunda w/Joe Hennig Cesaro hit Rotunda with the Very European Uppercut and that is that.
After Cesaro scored the pinfall, Kassius Ohno got in the ring and celebrated dramatically for Cesaro's win and Cesaro looked embarrassed because of how crazy Ohno got, but shrugged it off as Kassius Ohno and he will team up this Sunday at Extreme Rules.
In her office, Trish Stratus is with Hideo Itami, Kalisto, and Neville. Stratus makes them aware they are often overlooked by their size and are typically pushed to the side for the other stars, but that is not how she'll conduct business. Stratus says she wants all of them to get a shot, so she's putting them in a triple threat to prove themselves during the Extreme Rules Kickoff. All three are excited for this, and even more when Trish mentions it'll be contested under Extreme Rules.
Big Show def. Christian w/Tomko Tomko looked on in disappointment with Christian's big match ultimately earned him a loss to Big Show via a chokeslam.
Another vignette airs similar to what we've seen the past couple of weeks. The vignette shows the crow circle an old abandoned home and finds a broken window. The crow flies into the window before the text appears on the screen "CLOSER THAN YOU THINK" and the vignette ends. Michael Cole and Tyson Kidd attempt to guess what the vignette means, but there is no clue as they then mention Sunday's United States Championship match between challengers Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns with champion Kevin Owens, contested under Extreme Rules. They mention a fourth competitor might be added if Samoa Joe can defeat Kevin Owens now. Zayn and Reigns come join Cole and Kidd on opposite ends for this match.
Kevin Owens def. Samoa Joe in a non-title match In the must-win scenario, Owens avoided having a third challenger on Sunday and instead of tapping to the Coquina Clutch, transitions the weight and gets Joe's shoulders down for a quick three.
As Kevin Owens is celebrating, clutching his title, Roman Reigns makes the comment he's going to send a message. As Reigns is making his way down, Sami Zayn decides if anyone is getting to Owens, it'll be him. Zayn leaves and turns Reigns around and the two get into a fight as Kevin Owens watches. Kevin Owens tries to slip by the backway, but Zayn and Reigns stop for a moment to see Kevin Owens escaping, and they both dart to Kevin Owens before fighting him back towards the ring. Owens rolls in the ring to escape Sami Zayn, but Reigns times it perfectly to get in the ring and land a Superman Punch that puts the champion on the mat. Reigns is then waiting in the corner for a Spear, but Owens gets up with use of the ropes and makes his way into the corner, but catches Sami's Helluva Kick. Sami Zayn then turns around into Roman's Spear and Roman Reigns stands tall before their Extreme Rules Triple Threat this Sunday.
The Wyatt signature hits and Bray Wyatt begins to make his way to the ring, when Michael Cole and Tyson Kidd urge people to stand by for comments from Wyatt ahead of Sunday's Valley of Shadows Deathmatch.
Back from commercial, Bray Wyatt is in the ring and begins to speak of the Valley of Shadows Deathmatch itself. Wyatt reminds people it was his creation and made it for his first title defense last October against Seth Rollins. We then see a video package of the match and its structure, followed by highlights from the very first against Seth Rollins back at Rage in the Cage. Wyatt then says Sunday night he walks in not as the champion, but the challenger. He has nothing to lose and the whole world to gain, and that's when he's most dangerous in the most dangerous structure known to mankind. Bray Wyatt warns Finn Balor that it isn't WrestleMania where the lights shine brightest, but it's the valleys where the spotlight is dim and there's no light at the end of Balor's tunnel, but only pure darkness. Bray Wyatt is then interrupted as Finn Balor pops up on the titantron. Balor said he's been thinking about the Valley of Shadows Deathmatch and says it is more than a mere man can handle. Balor admitted he is afraid of entering the match, and so he won't be showing up. Bray laughs menacingly, and that comes to a halt when Balor clarifies he won't be showing up to Extreme Rules, but his Demon will be! The crowd popped when the titantron glitched off and the lights went out in the arena. A red spotlight comes on at the stage where the Demon Balor is standing with the championship in hand as the go-home episode of Raw fades.

April 18 2017 SmackDown begins tonight just like the week prior with Baron Corbin being accompanied by his advocate Paul Heyman. Heyman said he wasn't in the mood for talking tonight, leaving JBL on commentary shocked, as he invited Shinsuke Nakamura to the ring so his client can become the new Intercontinental Champion. Rather than Nakamura, Dean Ambrose's music hit after the pause and he said they must've missed the memo, because they weren't wrestling Nakamura, but Ambrose himself! Ambrose headed to the ring for his first appearance since WrestleMania and while the official argued with the referee, even after the bell, Ambrose charged and got underway.
Dean Ambrose def. Baron Corbin w/Paul Heyman via Disqualification After a good matchup, Corbin finally ended things the cheap way with grabbing a steel chair from the timekeepers area and smashing Ambrose in.
Corbin would continue brutalizing Ambrose with the chair, targeting the back, before laying the chair down and hitting End of Days on it. Paul Heyman then took a microphone from Eden and told Edge this was on his hands. Heyman demanded Shinsuke Nakamura next week or things will get ugly.
WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins is arriving at the arena now in a limousine and after he steps out, Ric Flair steps out next. Rollins and Flair head inside the building together ahead of Seth's title defense later tonight versus Cody Rhodes.
Becky Lynch w/Sasha Banks def. Maria in a non-title match The Matrons Champion locked in the Dis-arm-her and forced Maria to tap out tonight.
After the match, Sasha Banks got on the mic as she stood side-by-side with the Matrons Champion and the two addressed Alexa Bliss coming from NXT to SmackDown with no respect shown, and she's even recruited Nia Jax to help her out. Alexa Bliss had her music hit and she walked out with Nia Jax, as Alexa explained herself down the ramp and into the ring, that she saw Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks were close and rather than evening up the odds, she knew she could get the advantage with a dominant woman like Nia Jax, who has been a caged animal since Trish Stratus suspended her wrongly. Nia took over and said Trish made a big mistake because she suspended her and left before she ever had the chance to break her. Instead, the rest of the locker room will pay. Becky Lynch then suggested they settle all this in the ring with tag team action next week. Alexa Bliss said that sounded great, but Nia Jax came dressed to compete tonight, and points to Sasha Banks. Despite Becky talking Sasha out of it, Sasha accepts and the referee hops back in the ring from doing the last match.
Nia Jax w/Alexa Bliss def. Sasha Banks w/Becky Lynch Nia Jax finished things with a Samoan Drop and as Becky watched on, Banks hurt her ribs bad this match and required medical attention afterwards.
After a commercial, Curt Hawkins revealed his partner was none other than the "Celtic Warrior" Sheamus! Sheamus headed down for in-ring action against American Alpha.
American Alpha def. Curt Hawkins and Sheamus Sheamus got fed up with his partner's mouthing off on the apron, trying to tell Sheamus what to do, and Hawkins ate a Brogue Kick for it. However, this distracted Sheamus and he was caught into a Grand Amplitude.
Renee Young has a moment with Cody Rhodes ahead of his WWE Universal Championship match tonight. Renee's question is informing Cody Rhodes that Ric Flair is in the building and expected to accompany Seth Rollins to the ring. Cody said he is fully aware, but it's not the first time a Rhodes has humiliated a Flair and it certainly won't be the last. Rhodes vows to do what he should've done two weeks ago, and that is walk out the WWE Universal Champion!
Edge heads to the ring and SmackDown General Manager reminds the fans through his career, he had many accolades and accomplishments. One that some overlook but he never has, was he was the 2001 King of the Ring. Edge breaks the news that the King of the Ring returns next week and is the biggest King of the Ring of all-time. Edge shatters past tournaments saying this will be between two brands and have 16 competitors, eight for each brand. Edge says the final four will go onto the King of the Ring special on the WWE Network on May 7th and be crowned the 2017 King of the Ring. Edge releases the tournament from SmackDown's side, and it shows as follows:
Yet, Edge had an eerie encounter with The Wyatt Family, led by Luke Harper and followed by Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan. Harper berated Edge for not putting the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner in there, Braun Strowman. Harper said Strowman is the most fierce competitor, not only on SmackDown, but in WWE and Edge is taking away a sure win for SmackDown with he and Strowman in the tournament. Edge agreed that Strowman may have been snubbed, so he can have him compete for someone's place in the tournament. Edge says if Strowman wants it, he can wrestle Harper for his spot. Luke Harper didn't agree and as Edge got out of the ring, Harper made his disapproval known when he's attacked from behind by Braun Strowman. Erick Rowan is stunned and Strowman takes Rowan and clotheslines him over the top rope as an official rushes down and starts the match.
Braun Strowman def. Luke Harper Strowman's Triangle Choke Hold cut the air from Harper and Harper would pass out to the submission, giving up his spot in the King of the Ring tournament.
As it appears the tight-knit brothers group are having serious issues, thanks to Edge, we see Becky Lynch at the trainers room with Sasha Banks, who is having trouble breathing. The trainer alongside Sasha informs Becky it would take a miracle for Banks to wrestle next week. With this news, Rich Brennan and JBL in the press box still announce the match with the asterisk it may not occur. They also mention next week, each quarterfinals match will take place, including Braun Strowman against The Miz. They then see Cody Rhodes walk out right before the WWE Universal Championship match next!
Seth Rollins(c) w/Ric Flair vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Universal Championship
Rollins and Rhodes had a great match and when Rollins was in trouble, Cody Rhodes set up for the Cross-Rhodes, yet Flair grabbed Cody's leg preventing him. The official wouldn't take a backbone and out came Edge who told the official to throw Ric Flair out. The official took a moment and listened to Edge before tossing Flair out, and Flair responded by tossing his jacket and was pitching the biggest fit ever. Flair began backing up the ramp, but went back and this took both Edge's and the referee's attention. Back in the ring, Cody Rhodes was celebrating Ric's departure but caught an RKO Outta Nowhere! Orton quickly struck and slid out of the ring as the crowd reacted and back in the ring, Rhodes was trying to get up from the RKO and by this time, Seth Rollins was up and capitalized on the opportunity with a Pedigree, taking the pinfall without neither Edge or the official seeing Orton's involvement.
Seth Rollins was handed his championship as his music hit in celebratory mode, retaining his WWE Universal Championship. Randy Orton stood by the barricade after striking on Rhodes and costing him the opportunity to become champion tonight...
... and this is how SmackDown ends tonight.

Matha and Bennett both are surprisingly intrigued about being locked inside a Steel Cage with one another next week to determine Adam Cole's #1 contender.
Carmella steps out and says she is in the locker room and doesn't know half the new women walking around like they own the place. Carmella complained about waiting ten minutes before she could get an appointment with the makeup artist backstage. This is when Lakyn Machisma heads out for a match with Carmella.
Carmella def. Lakyn Machisma Carmella pulled Lakyn Machisma's hair and then dropped into a cover, as she held the ropes out of the official's sight to win tonight.
Along with Corey Graves and Byron Saxton, Vic Joseph hype up next week's Steel Cage match to determine a #1 contender for Adam Cole's NXT Championship, Dan Matha or Michael Bennett is for sure to earn a title shot. They mention the winner is getting their title shot at June 10th, but the Strange Bedfellows won't have to wait to challenge Depths of Despair for the NXT Tag Team Championships, because their title shot comes in two weeks on NXT.
Out comes Jenna to hype Brilee Fox's rematch versus Levi Payne up next.
Brilee Fox w/Jenna def. Levi Payne Payne looked to have things under control and tried his finishing Payneful, but Jenna got on the apron and allowed Fox to pull something out of his trunks and deck Payne from behind and covered Levi Payne for the win.
Jenna jumped for joy and celebrated as if Brilee Fox had won a gold medal in the Olympics for his efforts tonight. He got inside and hugged Brilee's neck and the two celebrated a cheap, yet big, win over Levi Payne here tonight to close this week's NXT.

Woods laughs and says Roman's week has already been off to a rough start by not regaining the United States Championship tonight, so it will be no issue. The Hardy Boyz(c) def. The Usos in a TLC Match to retain the WWE Tag Team ChampionshipsThere was carnage all in the ring and Jeff had taken both he and Jey out with a Swanton Bomb from a top of a ladder, through a ladder propped at ringside. Inside the ring, Matt Hardy and Jimmy Uso were battling at the top of two ladders for the title, and Matt kicked Jimmy's ladder away so Matt Hardy could claim the belts and win the match. As Matt Hardy dropped with the belts and helped his brother Jeff Hardy up from the rubble, they escaped as we then transition into a long video package of the first Valley of Shadows Deathmatch between Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins. Then, we get footage of the feud between Wyatt and champion Finn Balor as we then get the match up next, the main event that everyone had been waiting for. Michael Cole and Tyson Kidd take a moment to remind everyone of what a Valley of Shadows Deathmatch is: * A Hell in a Cell like cage structure with a lower ceiling * No door entrance/exit * There is a circular opening in the center at the top of the cage * A ladder is at the circular opening to lower the wrestlers inside * Weapons are at the wrestler's disposal on the cage roof, hanging from inside the roof, attached to the cell walls, and under the ring * Winner is determined by pinfall or submission in the cage structure The steel structure of the Valley of Shadows Deathmatch lowers to the ring and first to the ring is challenger Bray Wyatt. Bray Wyatt stops at the cage structure and shakes it a bit and he drops the lantern before he begins to climb up. Wyatt walks over and grabs a barbed wire baseball bat before dropping it in the circular opening. Wyatt would get his feet on the ladder and make his way down and he awaited the champion. Demon Finn Balor arose from the curtain and creeped his way down. Balor then began to crawl up the cage in demon-possessed manner and as he looked down below at Bray Wyatt in his playground, he walked towards the center opening and Wyatt knocked the ladder down. This is when the music stopped and things got real, as Wyatt shouted to come at him now. Balor then decided to crawl across the inside roof like a spiderpig and as the fans roared, Wyatt watched on and Balor suddenly let go and landed a crossbody from the top of the roof and the bell rung. Finn Balor(c) vs. Bray Wyatt in a Valley of Shadows Deathmatch for the WWE World Heavyweight ChampionshipBalor was hammering away with shots immediately after that crossbody, and Wyatt was able to free himself, but became the recipient of a few short-arm clotheslines and then a slingblade, in which Wyatt escaped (but not really) to the outside of the ring. Balor then tried hitting a diving swanton over the rope, but didn't have enough space and hit the cage structure and fell to the floor hard as Wyatt moved out of the way. Wyatt then took over using such as cookie sheets, steel chairs, and even used a steel chain to choke the life out of the champion.
Wyatt tried to break Balor's will early on and when he got a baseball bat from the cage wall, he missed Balor in a swing and Balor was able to start getting offense in and ended up hitting a dropkick, pushing Wyatt back into the steps behind him. Balor used this to take control by scaling the cage wall about a third of the way and leaping off in minimal space for a Coup de Grace variant, but only able to get two. Balor would then use an arsenal of weapons that includes a kendo stick and began swinging away, also using it as a choker, and getting Wyatt inside the ring, Balor would try to hit 1916, but it was countered into a lariat that turned Balor inside out to give Wyatt control once more.
Bray Wyatt would roll outside the ring and introduce a television screen to the match. Wyatt rolled inside and rushed towards Balor and hit Balor square in the eyes with it. Wyatt dropped for a cover, sure it was it, but the Demon kept going. Wyatt got frustrated and looking up the cage, he saw something on the roof he wanted so he got the ladder and climbed up, then getting on top of the roof. By this time, Balor had recovered and Wyatt saw Balor slowly making his way up the ladder. Wyatt braced for when Balor got up on the roof, and when he did, the two were throwing fists and Balor ended up getting the edge and hitting a Pele Kick on Wyatt. Balor then looked around and found a fire extinguisher and bashed it on Wyatt's head. Balor then looked at the Spanish announce table down below and picked Wyatt up as if he was going to put him through, but Wyatt pushed Balor away (and nearly off the cage structure) and Bray scurried to the center opening. As Wyatt tried getting through, Balor regained his balance and went after Wyatt, but only to be suckered into an Uranage on the cage roof. Bray then went over to get a tennis racket and he shot it down on Balor's throat, and that drew some bleeding from the mouth. As Wyatt then crawled back down in the cell structure, he went under the ring and got a table. Wyatt got inside the ring and set the table up, but knew there was a missing piece. Wyatt then went and grabbed some gasoline and a lighter. Wyatt was able to pour gasoline on the table and when he was about to light it on fire, he looked up and saw an angry Demon at the top of the ladder and Balor leaped and hit a crossbody off the top of the ladder!
Both men in the ring and Balor looks for the lighter that Wyatt possessed, but couldn't find it in time and he ate an uppercut to the jaw. Wyatt backed Balor up in the corner and propped him up on the turnbuckle as Wyatt took Balor and military press slammed him through the unlit table. Balor screamed in agony as Wyatt removed the rubble and made the cover, only getting a two-count. Not knowing what to do now, Wyatt took the ladder and threw it on the outside, clearing space, and set up in the corner for Sister Abigail. Wyatt creepily walked to the center of the ring and turned around, placing Balor in position for Sister Abigail, yet Balor avoided it and hit the Slingblade. Balor then backed up in the corner and ran to the opposing side, hitting the front dropkick and Wyatt's head bounced off the turnbuckle. Wyatt laid on the mat and Balor knew he had Wyatt where he wanted him, but instead of going up top for Coup de Grace, he went and grabbed a second table from under the ring. When Balor was about to introduce that table to the ring, he saw Wyatt had rolled out to the other side. Balor went around and SMASH! Wyatt shattered a beer bottle across Finn Balor's skull! The top of Balor's head began to ooze blood and Wyatt watched on and laughed. Wyatt then picked up a shard of the glass, sat Balor up, and scraped Balor's forehead more.
Bray Wyatt then slid Finn Balor into the ring and decided to make the cover now, but Balor still kicked out! Wyatt didn't know how to break the champion's desire. Wyatt then went and got a trash can and its lid before going back inside and hammering away at Balor's head with the lid, perhaps concussing the champion. Wyatt then set the trash can down and picked Balor up and set up for Sister Abigail then delivering. Balor rolled off the trash can as Wyatt went for the cover and he didn't get a shoulder up this time, but the official noticed Balor's foot on the bottom rope. Wyatt forgot to hook it and he kicked himself for the rookie mistake. Not sure what else to do, Wyatt went and picked up a heavy cinderblock from under the ring and sliding it in. Wyatt then picked the Demon up and shouted to Balor "I'm going to kill your Demon" and he set up for the Sister Abigail through the cinderblock, yet Balor fought out of it and hit a Pele Kick on Wyatt that rattled him into the ropes, and Wyatt came wobbling back into a Slingblade! Balor then took a steel chair and placed it in between the first and second turnbuckles. He turned around to a charging Wyatt, but Balor ducked the clothesline, and as Wyatt turned around, he turned right into a front dropkick. Wyatt's head bounced off that steel chair and fell forward to the mat. Finn knew his moment was here and he took it, hitting a Coup de Grace and hooking Wyatt's leg for a 3.Finn Balor did it! Bray Wyatt lost in his own playground and Balor is still the champion! The music hit as The Demon backed up in the corner to sit a few moments, catching a breather from the most devastating match of his career, and perhaps the hardest title defense he'll ever have. Michael Cole and Tyson Kidd recap through highlights a brutal match and as Balor gets a towel from the official as he tries to soak up the blood from his head, the cage structure rises and allows medical personnel to tend to Finn Balor, who he shrugs off. Balor stands up, gets his title handed to him, and raises it high to all the fans in attendance, that cheer for their champion. Balor then hops out of the ring and slowly makes his way up the ramp, leaving Bray Wyatt on his back. And this is how we end Extreme Rules 2017. Cole and Kidd remind everyone to tune into Raw for fallout of Extreme Rules and the beginning matchups of the King of the Ring tournament.
