Week 1 - @ Seahawks
The new look Bengals came into Seattle as massive underdogs but QB Will Grier showed everyone why Cincinnati’s management chose him to he their guy. Grier was 22 of 27 for 299 yards, completing 81% of his passes while also tossing a score to WR Jakeem Grant. Grier also added a rushing TD. Like the preview predicted, Grier immediately hit it off with TE Mo Alie-Cox. Alie-Cox converted several first downs all while posting 103 yards on 11 catches. Much to the surprise of the Seahawks defense, Dez Bryant proved to still be a huge factor in the pass game. He pulled in 4 catches for 128 yards. His longest reception netted 53 yards. Cooper Kupp was quiet for the most part, catching only 2 passes for 19 yards. Both of his catches however did pick up 1st downs. In the run game, Shady McCoy was the favorite as expected. He managed 88 yards and a score on 21 attempts. However late in the game, McCoy exited with a bruised knee and rookie RB Bryce Love took full advantage as he took a handoff from Grier and took the ball 23 yards into the endzone, scoring his first career TD.
The defense proved themselves in a tough battle, only allowing Russell Wilson to complete 17 of 30 passes. But this still wasn’t an easy one. Wilson still passes for 244 yards and hit rookie WR DK Metcalf for a 71 yard score. The run defense however was lights out. No one was getting passed rookie LB Devin Bush and DT Larry Ogunjobi. Ogunjobi finished the game with 2 sacks on Russell Wilson while Devin Bush led the team with 7 tackles.
Overall, it was a solid outing for debuting new look Cincinnati Bengals as they picked up the hard fought victory.
Final Score Bengals: 32 Seahawks: 20
